ARTIST STATEMENT
Max Reinhard's work evokes dream-like imagery & fantastical themes to create an ethereal & unsettling narrative.
His paintings & illustrations consist of eerie figures & creatures existing in liminal landscapes. These worlds inhabit the delicate veil between the euphoric haze of dreams, & the dark anguish of nightmares.

Max’s paintings often focus on figures & portraits, with frequent appearances of insects, anthropomorphic animals, monsters, and myths. The work is characterized by moody colors & sensual, organic forms. His visual language leans towards loose realism, using techniques that are often painterly & expressive.
Experimenting with mixed media & intuitive painting are methods Max's uses to develop his ever-evolving style. These methods bring a vulnerable curiosity & play into his process.
Max draws stylistic inspiration from old masters such as Sargent, Klimt, Monet, Renoir— as well as many talented contemporaries, including Nathan Fowkes, JAW Cooper, Gawki, Audra Auclair, & Wylie Beckert.
